We Are Young Money....

So...they're 7 for 14 in my book.

My favorite tracks....
1. Bedrock
3. Pass Me the Dutch Everyone's flow is on point. Why the left hand? Sorry, I'm not hip. lol
5. Fuck the Bullshit Nicki and Drake are great on this.
7. Target Sounds like old school, New Orleans Lil Wayne. Do I have the right track? lol
9. Every Girl I personally think this is one of the best songs of 2009. Straight Like That.
13. Roger That Love Nicki's verse. The song overall has a good concept.
14. Steady Mobbin' Gucci ♥

I didn't like 12. Gooder. And 6. Ms. Parker. Wtf is she? It's vulgar and uninteresting. No offense, but 11. Girl I Got You sounds like straight Nickelodeon rap. I decided 8. Sacrifice is uninteresing after I decided it sounds like some devil music on the lo. lol 10. She is Gone is just disturbing. It reminds me of Eminem dragging his girlfriend in the leaves and slamming her in the trunk of his car on Slim Shady. yikezzz =/

4. Wifebeater is okay. It's just that as soon as I saw the title I thought it was going to be a play on words, like...they're wifebeaters. Meaning they "beat" [sleep with]men's wives, since, sadly, rappers pride themselves on that these days. I think that's more creative then what the song is actually about, though. whatevzzz.
P.S. the last verse was disturbing and disgusting.

I just wasn't sure about 2. New Shit But Jae Millz's verse was great. I don't know if it's because D.C. just got more than a foot of snow, but this song reminds me of Christmas. lol

I don't know if the circulating track Finale is actually on the CD, but it's legit. It is arguably the best part. It reminds me of the introductions they do for the teams at the NBA All-Star game. hollaaaa!! =) hehe

So...I want to say that I think Lil Wayne is a genius for doing this album, all hip-hop labels should. It's a must to be legit. Young Money is where it's at right now. T-Streetz really intrigues me, I want to see and hear more of him. Nicki Minaj is a significant factor in Young Money, she's going places.

Thoughts on Rihanna Interview

I tuned into Rihanna exclusive interview on 20/20 yesterday 11/06. She revealed many details of what happened that night when she was assaulted by the singer/ex boyfriend, Chris Brown. She disclosed personal information of how she felt then, now and what she is anticipating for the future.

I felt Rihanna was being very honest and truthful. It is hard to put oneself into that vulnerable position especially in the limelight of the entertainment industry. This interview showed a side of Rihanna that we have never seen before and it was comforting to see that she is real person and is not perfect. It actually made me become more fond of her as a person as well as an artist.
Watch it and tell me your opinion!

Life Under the Scope video

This video was shot in Dame Dash's DD172

This picked my spirits up a bit...

In a nutshell, I've been needing a serious pick-me-up lately and as I was flipping through the pages of Kanye West's, Thank You and You're Welcome, not only were my anxieties and frustrations slightly relieved, I had a eureka moment.

Basically, everything happens for a reason. Even the most depressing, defeating moments in life somehow lead or open doors to new, exciting opportunities that in many cases are far better than one's original desire.
Kanye talks about a "nameless" artist who used some of his beats, but when it was time to buy beats from Kanye for his studio album, he didn't bother, leaving Mr. West slighted, confused, and even crushed.
Can you guess how this story ends?
The beats Kanye originally made for "nameless,"ended up being used by Jay-Z!
Bam, Kanye gets a career.
So, maybe if my subpar SAT scores result in a rejection letter from my dream school, it will lead to bigger and better things.
Either way, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Coming to the stage...Jay-Z and Jeezy!

New Rihanna...

The Wait is Ova video
This is a nice reminder incase you forgot that Rihanna actually makes good music.

Rihanna's stylist is amazing.

But I'm not feeling the blond slick-back. =/

"sometimes it takes a thousand times to win...the wait is ova"
...that's a great quote!

Jay-Z > Elvis

Blueprint 3 has been clawed to the Billboard's #1 Album spot for a minuto.

Officially giving Jay-Z more number ones than Elvis Presley.

This isn't just an amazing accomplishment for him, but for Hip-Hop, too.

New Game...

FYI: The Game made a statement officially changing his name to Game

So, I like this song!

I wasn't sold till the third verse, but the beat is nice. I can definitely see some cute choreo to this in a hip-hop class.

p.s. Game is one of my favorite rappers, for multiple reasons (♥) lol. If you don't know, now you know.

Chris Brown Ft. Lil Wayne and Swiss Beats presents their spankin' new music video! =]
I Love it!
Go head Chris Brown!

"We gon' be alright if we put Drake on every hook."

I think some artists have taken the above line (Lil' Wayne "Money to Blow") literally. Soulja Boy's latest song, "Playball," is a prime example, in my opinion. Everything about the song is just blah...

... except Drake's part.

Anyway, take a listen, download if your heart desires, and tell me what you think...

"Zaaaytoven on the beat!"

I have always wondered who Zaytoven is, especially since mimicking obnoxious DJ Tags dedicated to him has become one of my daily habits.
This video reveals this mystery man's whereabouts and current endeavors.

---Interesting, even though I was hoping more for the savage, dreaded, black lip, golden grilled, hood look.
(I kid.)

This was on t.v.? How did I miss it?

These freestyle holds significance in my life for mucho reasons..

1. I didn't EVEEEEN know BET had a show called The Deal

2. I love Nicki Minaj, and I beg the pardons of many other blogs out here: I think her freestyle was good!!!
3. Wacka Flocka? That was a first. lol. Pleased to meet him, though.
4. OJ Da Juiceman's contribution was preciously hilarious as usual.

Bone Crushin' Barbies

...can't see us.

Powder Puff?
We run this.

Really though?

So, Bill Cosby is still trying to prove his, "anti-hip-hop," point of view.

His album (?!!!?) drops November 24, 2009. lol

I am obviously interested in what he has to say, but, there are more effective ways than this to induce a real change in hip-hop.

Lady Gaga + Hello Kitty

New Rick Ross...

When I found out Rick Ross finally made a video for "Layback," ft. Robin Thicke, I was ecstatic.

But, after watching it, honestly, I'm unimpressed. I knew it would be in Miami and I knew there would be beautiful women, for that much I give an A for effort. But, it wasn't done as tastefully as I expected, or creatively, for that matter. Though, that indoor pool was really cool, lol. Also, I prefer the album version of the song more. I don't know, if this is part II.. or the remix? Whateverrrrrrrr.

U likey??

New Joss Stone...

This is a huge deal if you love Joss Stone's voice as much as I do. She's back with a new song featuring Nas.

It's entitled "Governmentalists," both of them provide thought provoking lyrics over a swooning beat, reminiscent of something like Carlos Santana's, "Black Magic Woman".... maybe? It's good, though.
I likesss it!

N.E.R.D. -a-la-chick?

N.E.R.D. has added female singer Rhea to their line-up. To me, this is a huge deal! You don't just randomly add someone to your already established powerhouse. Unless.....she's really amazing!?!??

Here are some fast facts:
She is of Guyanese decent (Rawrr)
She's from Toronto
She auditioned on Skype!!
She sang "His Eye is on the Sparrow" in her audition

She will appear on their upcoming album, and is already performing with them on tour.

New Q-Tip...

This song, "Life is Better," is one of my favorite songs of off Q-Tip's latest Album, "The Renaissance." Norah Jones is on it. (amaaazing, I know.) He made a video for it! So here it is...

...I really like it. It's fresh, and visually, the scenery and style evoke the same feelings that the words and melody of the song do.

If you never saw Yeezy in concert... can check out his new photo book of pics from his late, "Glow in the Dark," tour. I'll never forget, I was sitting in a band concert at my school and my friend Leah called me with $80.00 tickets to this show the day before. I got so lucky! It was amazing, some of the best concert production I've ever seen in my life. Nabil Elderkin snapped the photos. The book is $50.00 and will hit a bookshelf near you in October. Or you can order it on

Saturday, October 3, 2009

I'd love to see her in concert...

Adele, when are you coming to D.C. ??

New Nicki Minaj...

Checkout the behind the scenes of Nicki Minaj shooting her verse on 5 Star Chick Remix...

Gaga and Yeezy call it quits...

I'm not exactly sure why it is, but Kanye West and Lady Gaga's Fame tour is officially cancelled. People are saying different things, but this isn't a gossip blog so who cares what "they" say.

For the record, the D.C. show was sold out--before I got a chance to buy a ticket =(

Just because I knew you'd love this pic...

New BBC release...

No, I'm not a fashion blogger, but I had to show y'all this!

Billionaire Boys Club designed limited edition tees for Jay-Z ft. Pharrell's "So Ambitious" off BP3. As far as I know the only shipment in the U.S. so far is at the flagship store in Manhattan, which means they're probably sold out by now.
I want one!!!!

R&B dudes makin diss tracks?? why.

So, J. Holiday dissed Drake on his beat for Brand New. This is just a pathetic cry for attention. J.Holiday I really like your music, but you lose cool points for this one, bud.

If you're interested you can get it here:

I mean, really, are you serious? get over it.

New Mya... Nicki Minaj!!!

IDK if this one's for the fellas or the ladies, but it is a cute song, to say the least. It's called, "Ponytail," and it's just as freaky as it sounds.
get it here:

FYI, the link is different from any others I've posted. Just wait for the page to load and the song should automatically start playing...Enjoy!

Detox coming soon...

twitpic of Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and The Game in the studio

...Despite his recent antics, I still got a thing for that dude on the right. ♥

Young Dro's artwork for new mixtape...

Ahhh! I can't wait for this mixtape to come out. The release has been stalled due to some unfinished tracks. The title is so witty, he's already piqued my interest. For now, take a look at the cover art...

A Tupac moment I've been waiting for...

OMG! I was just talking to one of my bestfriends about this [shout out to lil 'ronica!! lol] and here in 's last "lost-footage" of Tupac interviews, they unveil Tupac's perspective on religion...check out this video. The religion part comes in the second half of the video.

...for the other interviews, go checkout

p.s. He's so insightful. You know that question people sometimes ask, if you could have a conversation with any dead person who would it be? Tupac is definitely a potential candidate.

Yeezy styles his boo for Elle magazine...

that glitter-rhinestone-awesome silver corset dress?? mm hmm ♥

I changed my mind...

Have you ever heard a song, hated it, then liked it? That just happened to me. Now I love..

Mishon's Just A Kiss

Amerie's Heard 'Em All

...Sean Garrett produced that. That choreography is nice! I could have done without her Jamaican accent lol, but its watevazzz.

New Mr. Hudson...

Check out his new video for, "White Lies."

Mr. Hudson - White Lies from kwest on Vimeo.

Nice video.

p.s. next time, just dont lie to me at all. lol

Professor at GW teaches his students about Jay-Z....

Marc Lynch
Professor at George Washington University
Shawn ''Jay-Z" Carter
don't act like you don't know who he is lol

So, last week my Honors Global Studies teacher introduced these two fellows in a lecture about U.S. hegemony. Dr. Lynch wrote an excellent article (the guy knew his stuff on HOV) comparing Jay-Z and The Game to the U.S. and other countries struggling for global power. Go check it out...
