Eminem x Lil Wayne ::: No Love

Because We ♥ Love Pandas!

...and cute kitties...

shoutout to @theblacksnooki !! :)

Rick Ross x Chrisette Michelle x Drake ::: Aston Martin Music Video

This video honestly is not as good as it could be. But, the girls are beautiful and I LOVE this song, so I wanted to share it. Sorry for the janky tag in the corner, lol, but I want y'all to get views just as soon as we do. Also, this is the extended version of the song...a.k.a. it has Drake's "Lost Verse."

The cute kids in the beginning may be the best part. I did like the "Rozay" license plate, though. And the lead girl getting out of jail instead of Ross was a creative touch, too.

My favorite part is Ross and Chrisette's lowkey two step at the 2:38 mark! love it! too cute...

Wishing Lil' Wayne a Happy 28th Birthday

"I'm a new soul, I came to this strange world"

There's nothing like listening to a song when it directly applies to you.
New Soul by Yael Naim
I heard this song awhile ago and liked it but I recently came across it again and realizes how it directly applies to me in this time in my life and fell in love literally. It really does describe perfectly what I'm feeling at this moment in my life.
" I'm a new soul, I came to this strange world"
Me being "the new soul"... NYC or St. John's University being "the strange world"
I know many people are in this same boat venturing out in the world and getting out of your comfort zone. I hope this can give you some comfort that your not alone. :)
Watch the video below

Classic Cigs

There is something so classic about smoking cigarettes...

But don't do it. It's bad for you. haha

James Dean

I was just told in my film class that this man was the start of pretty much all of pop culture. James Dean was a famous actor. He began the "rebel" phenomenon. My professor just said everything from Rock and Roll, Flower Power of the 60's, the 70's, Hip Hop and so on stemmed from this guy. If this is true... HE IS TIGHT! andddd he's handsome ; )

Carrie x Mr. Big

Ow! I love this picture and Sex in the City! What they are doing in this picture just embodies a man and a woman's role so well. I just like this picture. haha

Some Monday Motivation : )

This is a photo of Jay-Z at his former job , Crown Fried Chicken. This picture just goes to show everybody has to start somewhere and anything is possible. I really needed to see this because I have been having some doubts of my own on my career and where I will end up but this just gave me some reassurance and some motivation to keep going! I hope it does for you as well <3

G ::: Weed Addiction

Greg “G” Hines is a 19 year old up and coming DMV rapper, producer and studio engineer. He’s from Bowie, MD. He wants to make it clear that he’s got a lot of love for his people in Virginia, because through his relationships there he’s learned a lot and built worldwide network connections. After this car accident…

...where G basically escaped death, he has been motivated to work hard every single day because he understands that tomorrow isn’t promised…

He’s been rapping since his junior year in high school and will continue to hone his musician skills at Full Sail Music School in Florida. He’d love to collaborate with D.C. Hip-Hop Pioneer Wale, but in the mean time, he’s working hard to make each of his songs better than his last. I love this specific song, which is the first single off his mixtape Long Awaited which drops this October 31st a.k.a. HALLOWEEN! (muwah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha) It’s got a chill, melodic groove and I can’t wait to play it in my car when I go home!

:)

Enjoy…

Dear Wale,

We do birthdays big over here...like
WAY
BIGGER
THAN
THIS
BIG.

And as one of our favorite rappers we want to wish you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! while reminding you of all the other reasons you should be celebrating.
From this...

and my first fav song...

to this...

Wale on stage at Verizon Center from Jay-Z's Blueprint 3 Tour

...you have truly been an inspiration to us, and especially to fellow DMV, hip-hop loving natives who've been waiting for the day that competitive talent would emerge from our area, then come back to rebuild a supportive, hip-hop movement. I've paid $10 to see you live at a go-go. The video above this has you rapping on a stage that my friend's mom paid hundreds of dollars for! And, according to your old OLD myspace page that that first picture is saved from...your influence and favorite rapper is Jay-Z. Ummmmm...in case you didn't notice, that was Jay-Z's concert you were at! :)
My point is that, birthdays are not just meant to celebrate the new year you are about to start, they are also meant to commemorate all of the amazing years past. And you have a lot of commemorating to do. So... on behalf of a whole lot of people who look at this blog, have an amazing-kick-ass birthday! We hope that today is the best day of your life.

Love,

s o u l f l i g h t

Jay-Z x Warren Buffet

The pair, along with Steve Forbes, were in Buffett’s native Omaha, Nebraska to shoot for Forbes Magazine’s upcoming 400 Richest People issue. Usually you need at least a billion dollars to get on the Forbes list.

Go google Warren Buffet, because you should know who he is, especially if you call yourself a "business man."

p.s. Warren Buffet went to Columbia! =)

Common x Anthony Mandler x Jay-Z

FYI:
Mandler is a music video director. His credits include Rihanna-Russian Roulette, John Mayer-Who Says, Jay-Z-Run This Town, The Killers-A Dustland Fairytale, John Legend-Everybody Knows, T.I.-Live Your Life, the list goes on...
(ummm, yeah...he's tight.)

Melody Thornton x Common x Melanie Fiona

Freeway x Young Chris :: Live Performance

Videos like this make me smile uncontrollably and set my nerves on fire. Post Roc-A-Fella, Young Chris and Freeway can still move and shake a crowd, have people rapping word for word, and murk the stage with songs that came out years ago. This video will be a year old come February. If you're someone who needs a reminder as to why you love hip-hip, why you love concerts, or especially, why Roc-A-Fella was one of the best to ever do it...then watch. Hit the 4:02 part for the best part. Also take note of the video editing quality; switching from color to black and white, seeing the spotlights that are set behind the camera, etc.

Enjoy...

CoCo x Breezy ::: Interview from Socially Awkward Mag

These girls are futuristic. Young twin designers who reside in NYC. They are most popular for their eyewear which you may recognize from celebs like Lady GaGa, Rihanna and many more wearing them. They pride themselves on being different and not caring what others are think about how they dress or their appearance. These young ladies are inspiring to any of us young ambitious ones out there. I swiped this interviewed from socially awkward magzine's website.
The twins tell more about themselves and their career in the video below.
Watch and be inspired ;)

New Travis McCoy ::: We'll Be Alright

New song from Travis McCoy called "We'll Be Alright". I'm not really a fan of the song. Maybe it has to grow on me. But I will say I was toooo excited to hear he sampled "We Are Young" by Supergrass which is a classic song from the movie Clueless!
Take a look at the video below.

Arizona x Camera

Just because I thought this was cool looking and I heart Arizona Green Tea.

The London Souls ::: The Sound

I was blog hopping and I came across a 3-man band called The London Souls. One of their songs named "The Sound" caught my ear as well as my eye in the cool visuals of their music video. I liked their sound. It's very much soulful mixed with rock. I must get hip to their other music.
Check out their music video for "The Sound" below.

"For Colored Girls" ::: Tyler Perry Film

Another Tyler Perry movie...
It's called " For Colored Girls". Coming to theaters in November 2010. The trailer is super intense with a great cast including Anika Noni Rose, Kerry Washington, Janet Jackson, Kimberly Elise, Phylicia Rashad, Loretta Devine, Tessa Thompson ,Whoopi Goldberg, Macy Gray and Thandie Newton. Its based off of an award winning play named "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf". Take a look at the trailer.

Trey Songz ::: Panty Droppa Full

Haven't you always wondered why Panty Droppa wasn't a full song in the first place??!! Well, now it is. Honestly, idk if I would rather it be just a small taste of a song like the original, but this version sounds great. I like the end. The instrumentals were even tweaked a little. Enjoyyyyy =)

Das Racist ::: Sit Down, Man

I really wanted to post this with a bio and more info, but the content on this mixtape is so good I couldn't hold onto it much longer. It's fresh, creative, funny, and just great music in general. Also, a lot of their subject matter is socially conscious, so you will be educated. lol.
